Death by Decibels Tour Blog 1

...Boring title I know. I've been up since 7:00 am. I wake up every morning around 7:00 without an alarm. It probably has to to with my daughter waking up at the same time and making it impossible to sleep any longer, but I don't seem to be lacking sleep so I'm not complaining. Besides... I get up and have the bus to myself. I like private "quiet time" which is rare when I am but 1 of 12.

My duties on this tour are actually light and it's refreshing. I'm still getting used to not being horribly exhausted at the end of the day, but I'm definitely not complaining. My new muso friends, Dying Fetus and I got along right from the start. In fact, everyone on this tour is laid back, friendly and happy to be here. Working amongst friends is always a plus.

Today, I'm meeting a couple of friends for lunch. Having a network of people across the country to visit and spend time with is one of the perks of my job. With our brutal schedule (different city daily, no hotel stays, sporadic showers, sparse food) friendly, familiar faces are always welcome.

One of the side effects of touring is disconnection from the world. It only took 2 days for me to lost track of what day of the week it is. I am in the minority of Americans on this tour (the rest are Canadian and European) so American politics is not the tv programming or conversation of choice. The bus and venue become the world we know and nothing outside of that matters. I still read select blogs, but have been abstaining from mouting off or posting much. It's a liberating feeling... really.

This blog is boring. Go outside and play or something. I'll have something better next time.
